When Do Colorado Ski Resorts Open For The Year

When Do Ski Resorts Open In Colorado?

For many people, skiing is the perfect winter activity. It gets you outdoors, it’s a great workout, and it’s super fun! If you’re lucky enough to live in a state with great skiing, then you’re probably counting down the days until the resorts open. So, when do ski resorts in Colorado open? Read on to find out!

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area usually opens the ski season in Colorado. They opened on October 17th this year, which is earlier than they have in previous years. Loveland Ski Area and Keystone Resort are also frequently among the first to open. This year, they opened on October 19th and 20th respectively. Finally, Beaver Creek Resort and Vail Mountain Resort opened on November 22nd and 23rd respectively. These are all tentative dates however, as they depend heavily on weather conditions.

Snowpack levels are very important for skiing conditions. The snowpack is basically the amount of water that melting snow would produce if it were all collected at once. This is important because it affects things like how deep the powder is and how well groomed the trails are. The ideal snowpack level for most ski resorts is between 100% and 110%. Luckily, as of November 23rd, all of Colorado’s major ski resorts were above 110%.

So there you have it! Those are the approximate dates that ski resorts in Colorado will be open this year. Remember that these dates are subject to change based on weather conditions, so be sure to check the website of your favorite resort before heading up! And don’t forget – a good snowpack is key to great skiing conditions, so hopefully we’ll see plenty of snowfall this winter!
