A Statutory Town, Campo may be found in Baca County, Colorado, in the United States of America. According to the census completed in the year 2020 in the United States, the population of the town was 103. The community may be found in the High Plains, directly on the intersection of U.S. Routes 287 and 385.
History: Campo was established in 1913, and its original name was “Campo de los Muertos” (which translates to “Field of the Dead”) because of the large number of burials belonging to Native Americans that were discovered in the region. After some time, the name was changed to Campo.
Campo may be found in southern Baca County at 37°06′17′′ North and 102°34′42′′ West. It is just a short distance north of the state line with Oklahoma. The county seat of Springfield is located 21 miles (34 kilometers) to the north on U.S. Route 287/385, while Boise City, Oklahoma is located 27 miles (43 kilometers) to the south on this route. The town has a total land area of 92 acres (0.374 km2), according to the census completed in the year 2020 in the United States. To the southwest is where you’ll find Picture Canyon, which is part of the Comanche National Grassland. The canyon features picturesque panoramas, distinctive rock formations, undulating slopes, and rock art created by cultures indigenous to the Plains.
Although Campo is a somewhat unremarkable town, the surrounding area is home to a number of interesting tourist destinations.
