It’s called the Long Holiday Motel, and that’s what you’ll be wishing for if you book a room there when you need lodging in Gunnison. I only spent one night there during my travels, but I enjoyed my brief stay so much that I wished I had the time to linger.
Quaint and Comfortable Lodging in Gunnison
I arrived early and everything was ready for me. The room that I stayed in had been recently remodeled and was very comfortable. I had planned to unwind from my drive by watching some TV the evening that I first arrived, but the bed was so comfortable that I immediately drifted off to sleep and the plasma TV was still on when I woke up refreshed in the morning.
Fresh coffee and sweets were waiting for me in the lobby as promised, and I took them back to my room to enjoy as I was getting dressed. The coffee and cookies are available throughout the day, and I have to admit that I took full advantage of it while I was there.
Each of the rooms have microwaves and refrigerators, so it’s easy to have a quick meal ready to warm up when you are ready to eat, but too tired or too busy to go in search of a restaurant.
If you are anything like me, even a getaway doesn’t mean that you are off of the grid. I took full advantage of the free wireless internet service that the motel offers and was happy that I could warm up the leftovers I had brought back to my room the evening before as I attended to business before I finally had to check out.
The Long Holiday Motel isn’t very big. In fact, there are only 10 rooms. In my opinion, this adds to the quaint atmosphere of the place. I like the fact that it’s privately owned instead of a large chain. That allows for a lot of the charm I enjoy when I am traveling. The motel is also pet-friendly. The owner, Lofia Orda, has two beautiful pugs that help her greet you on your arrival.
The price of the motel in this historic town is mid-range. I was concerned, thinking that I may find that by booking an inexpensive room I would be giving up comfort and privacy, but that was not the case at all. Everything was clean and comfortable, and between you and me, I’d stay there again even if the prices for a night’s lodging in Gunnison at the Long Holiday Motel were increased.
