Grab Breakfast Before Exploring Gunnison

Main Street Gunnison Restaurants

There are few things that draw people to Gunnison on their Colorado vacation.  The first draw is skiing and snowboarding at Crested Butte in the winter months.  In the summer, it is the fishing on the Gunnison River and Blue Mesa Reservoir.  Others might find themselves there checking out the college, Western State.

One thing that it isn’t really known for is its food, but that shouldn’t stop you from sampling the local cuisine. Whatever it is that has drawn you to this mountain town, there are a few restaurants worth checking out while you’re there.

The W Café

W Cafe
Visit the W Cafe for a breakfast menu filled with comfort food and ample portions.

The W stands for win, or at least it should.  The best way to start a day of outdoor escapades in the Gunnison area is with a strong breakfast, as it is the most important meal of the day.  W Café is more than willing to help you out with this.

When chowing down at W, you can expect to find classic comfort foods such as homemade Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy, big fluffy pancakes, and French toast.  If you swing in around brunch time, you might be more inclined to try their mushroom Swiss burger, BLT or tuna salad sandwiches.  With ample portions, this can make for the perfect breakfast spot on your Gunnison vacation.

Farells Restaurant
While quiche may be one of the main attractions, you’ll be sure to find something tasty at Farrell’s.

Farrell’s Restaurant

Farrell’s Restaurant is another breakfast/lunch joint that you should make sure to stop by while on your Gunnison vacation.  Fans of quiches will not be disappointed, as theirs are loaded with thick-cut bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and fresh basil and parsley.  For those looking for something more substantial, there is the grilled bratwurst which is topped with cheese, sauerkraut, and spicy mustard.

Farrell’s also prides itself on freshly prepared baked goods, whether it’s their French rolls, decadent poppy seed and cream cheese filled croissants,  or their homemade pies and cookies.  For those visiting during the summer on their Colorado vacation, there is outside patio seating where patrons can enjoy the mountain air during their meal.

These are a couple of great spots for breakfast, but if you’re in Gunnison for the whole day or a longer stay, you may way to check out some of the Gunnison restaurants you can stop by for dinner too.
