Westin Riverfront: Another World-Class Colorado Resort in Avon

Westin Riverfront: Another World-Class Colorado Resort in Avon 1The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain offers some of the most breathtaking vistas in Colorado and also boasts some of the finest amenities in the state. Less than a two-hour drive west of Denver via Interstate 70, this little piece of nirvana in Avon, Colorado, is easily obtainable during any season.

Entering the lobby of the Westin Riverfront, guests are greeted by a massive fireplace, a library and fantastic views of the majestic property. This fairly new resort is taking the area by storm, offering luxury amenities and highly-praised customer-service-oriented staff.

The resort is horseshoe shaped, with an Olympic-size pool in the riverside courtyard. The only outdoor, heated Olympic pool in the Vail Valley, guests and athletes alike enjoy the saline waters, which use 80 percent less chemicals than standard pools. Three Infinity hot tubs line the Eagle River and are saline-based, as well.

The resort has 210 units and offers a kids’ club, a wellness center, Spa Anjali, shops and Restaurant Avondale. The resort even has its own Riverfront Express Gondola, which takes guests at no extra charge to the trails of Beaver Creek Ski Resort. The residences themselves include the acclaimed Westin Heavenly Shower and Heavenly Bed, as well as fireplaces, kitchens with dishwashers, fridges and fine finishes.

The Westin Riverfront is LEED Silver Certified, which means it meets and exceeds green building standards. Purifying and bottling their own water, growing produce, using renewable resources for over 50% of their electricity, and using recycled post consumer/industrial content for 10 percent of the building materials are all something to celebrate. Currently, the Westin Riverfront is the only LEED Silver certified resort in Colorado, and only the ninth hotel in the United States to receive the esteemed certification.

Condé Nast Traveler awarded this Beaver Creek property “Top Resort, Mainland U.S.” for the 2010 Reader’s Choice Awards.

Westin Riverfront general manager Bob Trotter is “… beyond thrilled to have been honored with this prestigious award by the travel savvy readers of Condé Nast Traveler. We are extremely thankful to all of the wonderful guests who have stayed with us and supported us over the past two years and we look forward to welcoming many new guests to The Westin Riverfront this ski season.”

Restaurant Avondale is off the main lobby at the resort. Internationally trained chef and owner Thomas Salamunovich is stirring up West Coast-inspired, market-driven foods. Stop by for a local grilled Palisade peach with prosciutto and greens from the garden or try the rushing river trout served with sweet corn, summer squash and wild rice. One of the hottest après ski venues in the valley, it is a spot not to miss.

With yoga classes, day hikes, spa treatments and Heavenly Beds, the Westin Riverfront is perfect for any of Colorado’s four seasons. Family- and dog-friendly, it is a relaxing respite or an exciting adventure just waiting to be had.
