Big Beaver Brewing Co

Big Beaver Brewing Co

Founded in 2010, the Big Beaver Brewing Company has been creating delicious craft beer in the shadows of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The incredible view from this location pairs so perfectly with equally awesome beer, and Big Beaver Brewery provides that. They have over 16 beers on tap to choose from, as well as a cozy Taproom to enjoy your favorite beer.

The Science Behind It

Why do Big Beaver beers taste so great? There is chemistry that goes into it! The owner of the brewery and chief brewing scientist has a Ph.D. in Industrial Microbiology from Colorado State University. Their recipes come from over 25 years of studying the key ingredients that go into exceptional beers, and they make it a priority to only use the highest quality ingredients. Their beers feature both domestic and imported hops. They use over 8 different strains of yeast, but avoid rice or corn. Their beers are never filtered, pasteurized, or centrifuged to keep the aroma and taste as is. This makes their beers that much more delicious!

The Beers

Big Beaver Brewery proves that they don’t go the easy route, by brewing their beers in a traditional German style with only the highest quality ingredients. This technique that they use takes more time and also is more pricey, but they make this a priority because you can taste the difference. This can especially be tasted in their Pecker Pilsner, their most popular light beer with a smooth and crisp light taste.

They feature a wide range of beers from lighter lagers, to hearty porters and stouts. If you are a fan of hops, their Big Woody IPA is a complex beer layered with multiple hops. Another beer brewed in their German style is their traditional British brown ale and has a strong and unique flavor, which makes is their most popular beer.

The Taproom

Big Beaver Brewery features a one-of-a-kind tasting room for their customers to enjoy. There are tables to sit at with friends and family, or you can take a spot at the bar with some of the locals. Their taproom is also very family friendly! It has a selection of board games, which is a great way to entertain the kids. There are also kid-friendly drink, like Big Beaver Brewery’s own Root Beer as well as a selection of Italian sodas.

They also have a delicious German brats if you’re feeling hungry! It is the most perfect combination to pair with your beer and is a specialty at the brewery. They serve these local Bratwurst cooked slow in their beer and and is finished with a crispy outside.

Looking to soak up some sun? There is also a great patio to enjoy the weather is nice, and it makes the perfect atmosphere to enjoy some brews.

It is also very important to the founder that the company be sustainable with local hand-crafted beers and sodas, where the community can also make a difference in reducing the carbon footprint and waste. Because of this, they encourage the use of refillable growlers with their 1/2 price fills on Tuesday. Customers are also encouraged to buy the Big Beaver glassware with one free fill at the time of purchase, as well as one free fill every Wednesday when you bring in your glass. This is a huge hit with their customers and makes a difference on their sustainability!
