Relax by the Waterfront at the Rockey River Resort

Rockey River Gunnison

Sometimes a motel doesn’t quite fit in with the theme of your vacation, no matter how many amenities the lodging in Gunnison may offer. This is especially true when you have planned your vacation around fishing, rafting or other water activities. If ever there was a time to reserve a cabin right on the water, this is it. One of the best places to find well-appointed waterfront cabins is along the Gunnison River at the Rockey River Resort.

Waterfront Lodging in Gunnison

Rockey River Resort has 15 furnished cabins along the river, sleeping from 2 to 10 persons. They also have RV sites, but most are rented out by the season or month. The resort is in a very convenient location if you are going to be on the water a lot, so ask about the camping sites if you call and find that all of the cabins have already been reserved. Both the Taylor and Blue Mesa reservoirs are close by.

Not all of the cabins are the same, so ask about them before your book your vacation lodging. They all are equipped with cooking facilities, but only four of them have wood fireplaces. One of the units has a wood stove. All of the cabins and cottages at the Rockey River Resort are nonsmoking. Most of the cabins have queen beds, but when you call, you can ask if any of the units that are equipped with king-sized beds are available.

No matter how much fun you are having, you have to get off of the water sooner or later. Don’t worry, you won’t be bored. Pick up a game of horseshoes, volleyball or basketball on the grounds, or explore the area on a ‘Townie Bike’ available for the guests.

There is always something to do nearby when you stay at the Rockey River Resort. Jump in your vehicle and you can be at the golf course, art gallery, museum or internet café within 10 minutes. On your way, you’ll drive by the restaurants that are close to the resort. If you are more in the mood to take a hot air balloon ride or catch a movie at the theater, you and your family can drive to either within 25 minutes.
