While this may come as a surprise to many Dushanbe, Tajikistan, which is surrounded by China, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in the middle east, is the “sister city” to our own Boulder Colorado. In 1987, on his first trip to Boulder, Mayor Maksud Ikramov announced he wanted to present Boulder with a teahouse to celebrate the establishment of sister city ties. All of the décor was made in several cities of Tajikistan and flown to Boulder to give it an authentic feel. They feature a variety of teas, and entrees that represent the region of Tajikistan.
