The Clyfford Still Museum, Denver, Colorado

Clyfford Still is considered to be one of the most important painters of the 20th century; he was one of the first generations of abstract artists after WWII. Upon his death in 1980, his estate was sealed from public and scholarly view, his will however, stipulated that the estate could be given to any American city willing to establish and permanent museum dedicated solely to his work. In August 2004, the City of Denver was selected by Still’s wife. The Still Museum houses 94 percent of the artists output which is roughly 2,400 works created between 1920 and 1980. Located adjacent to the Denver Art Museum, the building is 28,500 square feet and was completed in November 2011. For directions or more information visit www.clyffordstillmuseum.org
